Plum slate chippings 30-50mm
Our plum slate chippings are 30-50mm decorative slate with rich purple and plum tones that look warm against green planting. Slate is a popular choice for garden borders, rockeries, pot toppings, water features and low-maintenance front gardens, and its flat shape locks together to make a stable surface that's comfortable to walk on.
Uses
- Borders and beds, laid over a weed membrane
- Paths and seating areas
- Around ponds and water features
- Mulch for pots and planters
How much do I need?
Lay slate 40–50mm deep. As a rough guide, one tonne covers about 10m² at 50mm. Buy by the single bag or a three-bag deal, or choose decorative slate large packs for bigger areas. Lay a weed membrane first to keep weeds down.
Prefer a different colour? See our blue slate chippings or browse all decorative gravel & slate. Delivery within 30 miles of Newcastle, or collect from Swalwell.

It's great to find a local business that offers good products, good service and good value. We'd definitely recommend checking out what they sell before heading to one of the big chains.
